Delaware never stood a chance with frigid shooting

NEWARK, Del. -- Joe Chealey scored 23 points, including four 3-pointers, and College of Charleston pulled away late to beat Delaware 62-54 on Thursday night.

Grant Riller had 11 points and Marquise Pointer scored 10 for Charleston (15-6, 6-3 Colonial Athletic Association). Jarrell Brantley added nine points and a season-high 12 rebounds.

Delaware's Eric Carter made two free throws to make it 49-all with 3 minutes left, but Brantley made two layups to give the Cougars a four-point lead. Ryan Daly's layup with 2:03 to play pulled the Blue Hens within 53-51, but Chealey and Cameron Johnson each hit a 3-pointer, and Delaware went 0 for 3 from the field, as Charleston scored nine of the last 12 points.

Ryan Allen had 19 points and Daly scored 12 for Delaware (11-11, 4-5). The Blue Hens made just 16 field goals and shot 29.6 percent -- both season lows.
