Delaware outlasts Cornell in OT thriller

NEWARK, Del. — Ryan Allen scored a career-high 24 points, Ryan Daly had 19, including four free throws in the final five seconds of overtime, and Delaware outlasted Cornell 97-96 on Thursday despite two players scoring more than 30 points for the Big Red.

Daly made two free throws for a 95-92 lead and after Matt Morgan made 1 of 2 for Cornell, Daly iced the game with 3 seconds left. Morgan hit a 3 at the buzzer.

Anthony Mosley added 18 points and Eric Carter had 15 for the Blue Hens (7-6).

Stone Gettings had 39 points for Cornell (5-6), the third-highest total in school history -- but a record for a junior -- and tied for sixth in the NCAA this season. Morgan had 34 points, nine in overtime, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Gettings had a career-high 26 points in the first half and the Big Red led 47-36. Allen, who had six 3-pointers, had two treys and eight points as Delaware scored the first 12 points of the second half. Cornell rebuilt the lead to 13 with 7:07 to play Delaware closed regulation with an 11-2 run, including the last six, capped by Daly's jumper with 16 seconds to go.

Morgan, who had five 3s, missed a 3 to win it. Gettings finished 16 of 21, 7 of 8 from distance but Cornell missed its last four shots of regulation while Delaware made its last five.

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Ryan Daly scored 19 points and the winning basket with 14 seconds to play and Delaware rallied from seven points down to beat James Madison 61-60 on Saturday and win its third straight.

Matt Lewis' layup sparked an 11-4 run for a 60-53 Dukes lead with 3:06 left to play. Daly hit two free throws and Delaware closed to 60-59 with 48 seconds left on layups by Ryan Allen and Anthony Mosely. Daly scored a contested jumper off a defensive rebound and Stuckey Mosely missed a jumper with 2 seconds to play.

The game featured 16 lead changes and 11 ties, with neither team leading by more than seven points.

Allen scored 14 points, Anthony Mosely 11 and Eric Carter 9 with 13 rebounds for Delaware (11-8, 4-2 Colonial Athletic League), which shot 36.8 percent from the floor.

Delaware led 27-26 on Allen's jumper, but Stuckey Mosely's two free throws put James Madison up 28-27 at halftime.

Stuckey Mosely scored 17 points with a career-high seven rebounds and Matt Lewis had 14 points for James Madison (4-15, 0-6), which has lost seven straight.

NEWARK, Del. -- Eric Carter had 17 points and a season-high 13 rebounds to help Delaware beat Drexel 72-66 on Thursday night.

Delaware (10-8, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) has won five of its last nine at home. Drexel (7-11, 1-4) has lost five of its last six games.

A 15-6 run cut Drexel's deficit to 69-66 with 1:19 to play. Tramaine Isabell missed a 3-point shot that would have tied it for the Dragons with 39 seconds left before Delaware made 3 of 4 free throws.

Carter scored 11 points in the second half, and has reached double-figure scoring in six of his last eight games. Ryan Allen added 15 points, and Ryan Daly, who had a season-high 27 points in Delaware's 20-point win against UNC Wilmington on Sunday, chipped in 13 points.

Isabell scored 14 points and had 15 rebounds to lead the Dragons.
