Documentary on Eagles' Super Bowl run is a nice way to warm up for Dallas Week

The Eagles are 2-4-1 and while they do occupy first place in the division, their slight record and the mountain of injured starters on both sides of the ball is leaving a bit to be desired for Birds fans almost halfway through the season.

Eagles fans who are looking for some good vibes before Sunday night’s primetime showdown with the Cowboys can head up to Cinema Drive-Ins in Oaks, PA, to catch the final area showing of ‘Maybe Next Year.” The documentary takes viewers through the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl run from a fan’s perspective.

Donald Hunt from the Philadelphia Tribune introduces readers to one of the main characters from the Doc, Shirley Dash, or “Eagles Shirley” as she’s known among Eagles fandom.

The documentary premiered last October at the Philadelphia Film Festival and will be available on DVD and select streaming platforms Nov. 10.

Drexel grad and director Kyle Thrash began his research during the 2017 season by buying a $2,000 pickup truck and tailgating at the stadium to get better acquainted with fans who portrayed the passion and uniqueness of the Eagles fanbase.

”Eagles Shirley” is from North Philly but now resides in Delaware County and I think one of her quotes from the Tribune article accurately reflects the mood of the doc:

“This one is capturing the city. The heart of the city. The fan base of the city. It’s all around the city. The documentary is not just about football. It’s about football and Brotherly Love. This is Rocky [movie] all over again. It’s beautiful. It’s a tribute to Philadelphia. I’m just grateful to be a part of it and thankful.”

Dallas Week is here, and while the matchup doesn’t quite carry the same juice as years past with both teams underperforming, first place in the NFC East is still on the line and if you need something to stoke the flames, checking out “Maybe Next Year” could be it.
