Cowboys release Kellen Moore to apparently prevent Eagles from rookie

Two times each season, the Cowboys and the Eagles battle it out for rivalry supremacy.

Now, they are battling it out for players.

Per ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys prevented the Eagles from claiming tight end Blake Jarwin from their practice squad.

Last week, Dallas made former Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush its backup to Dak Prescott over veteran Kellen Moore for the first time this season. With the Eagles reportedly eyeing Jarwin for their 53-man roster, the Cowboys released Moore on Thursday to call up the TE.

Moore, who doesn't have to clear waivers, will be eligible to sign elsewhere or could return to the Cowboys’ practice squad.

Jarwin, a rookie out of Oklahoma State, hasn’t appeared in a game for the Cowboys this season but caught four passes for 31 yards in the preseason.
