Eagles Milestones: Wentz looks to pass Van Brocklin; defense eyes best first quarter streak

The Eagles go into Sunday's game against the 49ers at the Linc looking for their first six-game winning streak within one season since 2009.

There are several other milestones within reach for the Eagles on Sunday. Here's a look at several of them:

• With three touchdown passes, Carson Wentz will become the 19th quarterback in NFL history and first in Eagles history with four straight games with three or more touchdown passes. Wentz's 17 TD passes in the first seven games of a season also tie the club record for most touchdown passes with Norm Van Brocklin (17 in 1960) and Norm Snead (17 in 1967), so one TD gives him the most in franchise history through eight games.

• Wentz also needs 13 completions for 535 in his career, which would be the most in NFL history by a quarterback in his first 24 career games. Matt Stafford had 534 in his first 24 games from 2009 through 2011.

• The Eagles are looking for their sixth straight game with 100 or more rushing yards gained and 80 or fewer rushing yards allowed. Only five teams in NFL history have had recorded straight such games.

• The Eagles have scored 199 points so far. Since 1960, they’ve only scored more than 221 once in their first eight games — 234 in 2014. So they need 35 to match their most points through eight games since 1953 (244) and 22 to match their second-most since 1953.

• The Eagles haven’t allowed more than three points in a first quarter since the Ravens game last Dec. 18. If they hold the 49ers to three or fewer points in the first quarter Sunday, the 10-game streak will be their longest since a 13-game streak that ran from opening day 1971 through Week 13. It ended when Rocky Thompson of the Giants scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter of a game the Eagles won 41-28 at Yankee Stadium.
