Pair of Eagles run away with All-Pro team vote

Jason Kelce isn't getting snubbed anymore.

After he wasn't even named to the Pro Bowl, Kelce was voted the Associated Press All-Pro first-team center. He joins Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, who was also named to the first team by a 50-person panel made up of national media members.

These are the first All-Pro honors for Kelce and Johnson. Johnson got 40 of 50 first-team votes, while Kelce got 18 of 50.

Quarterback Carson Wentz and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox made the second team.

Kelce actually made the Pro Bowl last season but he didn't have a very good year. In 2017, he has returned to his dominant form. He was also named to the ProFootballFocus All-Pro team.

After Kelce's 18 votes, the next closest center was Atlanta's Alex Mack, who had 10.

“Any time that you are considered at the top of your profession, it’s natural to feel prideful and enjoy that,” Kelce said to the Eagles' website. “But you’ve always got to take individual awards with a grain of salt. This game is not like any other game. There is so much that goes into you playing well — what plays are called, who is playing next to you, who the quarterback is — all of these little things that, at the end of the day, are so important.

"For an offensive lineman, the difference between having a good game and a bad game comes down to, potentially, two or three plays. Everybody is so reliant on everyone doing their jobs. It’s so cliché, but it really is the ultimate team sport.”

After serving a 10-game suspension for a second PED offense last year, Johnson returned to the field on a mission in 2017. He's been playing at an incredibly high level all year.

Earlier in the season, when Jason Peters went down, the Eagles kept Johnson at his right tackle post instead of moving him to the left side. At right tackle, Johnson has battled with some of the top pass-rushers in football, including Von Miller, Khalil Mack and Demarcus Lawrence.

“It’s been by far my best season, my most consistent,” Johnson said to the Eagles' website. “If you go down the list of the pass rushers I’ve had to go against this season, it’s been multiple Pro Bowlers, high-caliber guys and it’s been every week. There really hasn’t been a week off. I knew that coming into the season that I would be challenged like no other season."

Wentz picked up two All-Pro votes, placing him on the second team. Tom Brady finished with 47. (Russell Wilson got one vote.) In nine of the last 10 years, the All-Pro quarterback has gone on to be the MVP.

Wentz had a tremendous season that was cut short because of an ACL tear. He was second in the NFL in touchdown passes with 33, which was a new Eagles' franchise record. This is Wentz's first time as a second-team All-Pro and his first time as a Pro Bowler.

Wentz was also named a finalist for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year along with Tom Brady and Alex Smith. You can vote for Wentz here or tweet @FedEx using #AirandGround and Wentz's name. The winner will be announced Feb 3.

This is the third time Fletcher Cox has been named to the All-Pro second team. He picked up 11 votes, but Aaron Donald (49 votes) and Cam Heyward (21) finished ahead of him. Cox finished the regular season with 5½ sacks.
