A Fightin' Chance: 10th inning Heroics

The Phillies won a roller coaster of a game Wednesday night in Atlanta.  Brett Myers didn't have his 'A' game and the Braves rattled him.  The Phillies bats won this one.

The Phils were down multiple times, but battled back.  Jimmy Rollins and Pat Burrell both had three hits a piece but the star of the night came from the bench.  Ramon Martinez got the start at first base but Ryan Howard came in to pinch hit late.

With bases loaded in the top of the 10th, Ryan Howard hit a blast to opposite field.  Ryan Howard has quickly won the hearts of Phillies fans, making this off season very interesting with Jim Thome still under contract for big time bucks.  Ryan Howard is a beast and hopefully Phillies management will find a way to get him into the line up next year.  That is a conversation for another day.  Johny Marz said on post game live that Howard clinched the rookie of the year award with his performance last night.

The Phillies still gave themselves a fightin' chance at catching Houston with a key win against Atlanta.  The Phils finish off the Braves series with a 1:00 PM start (Lieber v. Hudson) on Thursday while the Astros face the Pirates at 12:35 PM.
