Flyers prospect Noah Cates scores unbelievable goal in traffic

Here's a mind-blowing hockey highlight to cure your midsummer hockey withdrawal, courtesy of Flyers prospect Noah Cates.

Playing for Team USA in the World Junior Summer Showcase, the Flyers' 2017 fifth-round pick scored the best goal you'll see this summer.

The vision, the calmness, the creativity. Beautiful.

Of course, Cates is no stranger to highlight-reel goals, pulling off this beauty in his high school days.

Cates, a talented left winger, will play for the defending NCAA champion University of Minnesota Duluth this upcoming season (more on Cates' story here).

But that highlight goal wasn't Cates' only contribution. The winger has impressed with his all-around game, working his way up from unheralded extra on the team to bottom-six mainstay.

Sure, Team USA lost to Canada, 6-5, but there was a lot to like for Flyers fans in the game.

Joel Farabee and Jay O'Brien, both 2018 first-round picks playing for Team USA, each scored. O'Brien was named the team's player of the game for his two goals in the loss. The future is very bright.
