Jason Peters: Since January, end of December, Ive been 100 percent

Now for some good news. The NovaCare Complex reopened for
business on Monday, and word is plenty of Eagles players have already arrived to
participate in workouts. Among those were left tackle Jason Peters, who assures
us he is still “the number one offensive lineman in the league.”

Peters met with members of the media on Tuesday, and he had
a lot of interesting things to say about playing for Chip Kelly this year,
including losing weight to prepare for Chip’s uptempo offense, and whether a new
blocking scheme will alter how he plays. Peters even compares himself to Tom
Brady.

That’s all well and good, but the most important detail fans
want to know right now is whether or not the big man has recovered from his
twice-ruptured Achilles last offseason. Don’t fret says Peters – he was ready
to go last year already.

“I could have [returned in 2012], but I didn’t want to risk
it with a losing season,” Peters said. “The coaches kind of held me back a
little bit.”

“Since January, end of December, I’ve been 100 [percent].”

It’s certainly reassuring to hear, but of course we need to see
Peters playing at a high level before we believe it – as much as we might want to. Peters was the most
important player in the Eagles’ offense prior to his injury. Without him the
offensive line crumbled, weakening both the rushing  and passing attacks significantly.

Sheil Kapadia has the full report over at Birds 24/7, and it’s
definitely worth a read for a little insight. One thing’s for sure, and that is
Peters is not lacking in confidence. If he’s completely healthy, the presence
of Peters at left tackle alone is going to go a long way toward fixing that line.
