Jose Contreras to the DL

Because things were simply going too well for the Phillies as of late, the baseball gods felt the need to throw us a junk ball. The team announced today that Jose Contereas will be headed to the DL retroactive to June 20th. He's got a sore elbow, according to Charlie Manuel.

So who will replace him? Lehigh Valley IronPig Juan Perez of course. Okay, cool. But wait, who?

CSN's Jim Salisbury has more on Perez, "In 28 games this season, the 32-year-old Perez is 0-3 with a 3.52 ERA
and four saves. He has struck out 41 in 30 1/3 innings and held lefties
to a .184 average. In 24 career major league appearances, all with the
Pirates from 2006-07, Perez is 0-1 with a 5.17 ERA."
