De'Riante Jenkins scored 20 points, Justin Tillman added 13 with 10 rebounds and VCU beat La Salle 80-74 on Saturday.
VCU (10-6, 2-1 Atlantic 10) trailed 40-32 at halftime, but Malik Crowfield sparked an 11-4 run to start the second half with three 3s to get VCU back in it.
Tillman's dunk with 16:28 left gave VCU the lead, 45-44, the rest of the way. Crowfield followed with another 3 and Jonathan Williams added a layup and the Rams went up six.
Isaac Vann's layup at 9:29 made it 65-55 before Pookie Powell went on his own 8-3 run with a 3, 3-point play and pair of free throws. Amar Stukes made two free throws and La Salle (7-9, 1-2) was within two but couldn't get any closer.
Williams made all four of his free throws in the final 15 seconds to preserve the win. Crowfield scored 17 points with five 3-pointers.
Powell led the Explorers with 24 points, Isiah Deas scored 17 and B.J. Johnson 10.
Tony Washington scored a career-high 20 points and pulled down a career-best 14 rebounds as La Salle overcame a slow start to beat George Mason 69-62 on Saturday afternoon to halt a three-game losing skid.
George Mason, looking for its third straight Atlantic 10 Conference victory, shot 62 percent from the floor in the first half, sprinting to a 45-32 halftime advantage.
The Explorers picked up the pace as Washington scored six straight points to open the second half, while George Mason opened that period shooting 2-of-15 from the floor. La Salle opened the second period on a 21-7 surge to take a 53-52 lead with 8:58 remaining in the game.
The Patriots battled back to retake the lead 58-57. Washington pulled down his 13th rebound and followed with a layup at the other end for a 61-60 lead with 1:20 remaining. The Explorers made six straight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Washington was 9 of 11 from the floor. B.J. Johnson added 18 points with nine boards and Amar Stukes had 12 points for La Salle (11-16, 5-9).
Justin Kier led George Mason (12-15, 6-8) with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Matt Mobley scored 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Jaylen Adams added 26 points with five assists and four steals and St. Bonaventure beat La Salle 79-68 on Tuesday night for its first seven-game Atlantic 10 winning streak in program history.
The pair combined to go 9 of 17 from distance, with Adams hitting five 3s, and the Bonnies made 10 of 20. Mobley reached 30 points for the second time this season.
Mobley paced the Bonnies in the opening half with 18 points and Adams added 12 for a 42-32 lead. Mobley sank a 3-pointer and Courtney Stockard went coast-to-coast for a dunk to put the Bonnies in control at 67-56 with 7:22 left.
Stockard finished with 10 points for St. Bonaventure (19-6, 9-4), which has sole possession of second in the A-10.
Saul Phiri scored 22 points with five 3-pointers and Pookie Powell added 15 points for La Salle (10-16, 4-9).
