Villanova's 20-game win streak going unnoticed? That's just fine with Wildcats

Is it possible to fly under the radar when you're on a 20-game winning streak?

Well, taking a look around the Philadelphia sports scene, you might say no.

Take the Flyers for example — just about everyone knew they won 10 straight games. Nationally, you can see what the Columbus Blue Jackets have done (16 wins in a row), or even how the Cleveland Cavaliers have performed at home (nine consecutive wins at Quicken Loans Arena).

But there's one team that has surpassed all of those streaks: Villanova.

But no one seems to be talking about the Wildcats and their 20 straight wins, which date back to last season.

Maybe people just take them for granted. Maybe it's because they win without distractions, their players just play. After all, if you do a quick online search of college basketball news, Villanova won't be in the top 10 of stories. You'll see clips on Duke and UNC losing, Kansas and UCLA sputtering, stories on Grayson Allen and Lonzo Ball, and Coach K's impending back surgery.

But the Wildcats? They're just keeping their heads down, laser-focused on the court and coming off an impressive win over then-10th ranked and previously undefeated Creighton in Omaha, Nebraska.

And Villanova, which travels to No. 18 Butler Wednesday night, is just fine with the way things are, splashy publicity or not. It's not the Wildcats' style, nor that of their coach's (despite Jay Wright's impeccable suit game).

You hear the same tag line from the players: stay humble and hungry. It's the same motto that Wright preached to Randy Foye, Kyle Lowry and Ryan Arcidiacono. And that turned out pretty well.
