Zach Bednarczyk, Rob Rolle shine as Villanova beats Maine

ORONO, Maine -- Zach Bednarczyk passed for three touchdowns and a career-high 326 yards, and Rob Rolle had two of Villanova's four interceptions to help the Wildcats beat Maine 26-7 on Saturday.

Villanova (7-2, 5-1 Colonial Athletic Association) led 3-0 late in the second quarter after Gerard Smith's 42-yard field goal. Bednarczyk found Brandon Chadbourn for a 17-yard touchdown with 11 seconds left in the half to put the Wildcats in front 10-0.

Earnest Earnes returned the second half's opening kickoff 97 yards to pull the Black Bears within 10-7. Smith connected from 43 yards out to make it 13-7, and TD hookups from Bednarczyk to Ryan Bell in both the third and fourth quarters put the game out of reach, with Villanova scoring on four straight possessions.

Bell had four catches for 58 yards. Bednarczyk finished 23-of-31 passing.

Dan Collins threw four interceptions for Maine (5-4, 4-2), which had a five-game winning streak snapped.
