No Shortage of Goal Scorers Here

Share

When he came over in the Peter Forsberg deal last season, Scottie Upshall wasn't much of a known commodity here in Philly. But he quickly brought his game up and showed a great scoring touch, becoming a fast Level favorite. Scottie Upside missed the season's first 7 games with a broken wrist, but he's returned, and so have the goals. He picked up two of the Flyers' three last night, showing us again that this team is loaded with guys who can score.

Not to be outshined, Mike Richards could very well lead the club in goals and points when all is said and done, as he lit the lamp for the 10th time. The game-winning goal was already his third short-hander of the season. Richards' and Upshall's goals proved to be enough to top a tough Islanders team, 3-2, last night.

Quick Hits:
The Flyers did not beat the Islanders last season, but have taken the first two contests this time around... I'm a big Keith Jones fan, so if he's gonna take a night off to do his Versus duty, I was glad to hear the great voice and insights of Mr. Bill Clement... Simon Gagne continues to sit with a concussion dehydration... Another great game from Marty Biron, and the Flyers were once again outshot, with fewer than 20 SOG... Former Flyer Ruslan Fedotenko caught Jason Smith up high with a stick (not called), and while the Captain gathered himself, Fedetenko had to answer to Mike Knuble, although it was broken up before Rusty got his ass handed to him... Rory Fitzpatrick tangled with the Isles'  Tim Jackman (there's a fighter's name), adding to the Flyers' league-lead in fights (19).
