Sixers-Pacers 5 things: Another chance to play postseason spoiler

The Sixers (27-45) near the end of their five-game road trip with a battle against the Indiana Pacers (36-36) at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Sunday in Indy. (6 p.m./CSN, CSNPhilly.com and the NBC Sports app).

Let's take a closer look at the matchup:

1. More damage to be done?
The Sixers will get another opportunity to play spoiler when they take the court. That worked out well on Friday night.

Despite the fact the Chicago Bulls entered Friday's tilt just a game out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, it was the Sixers who played with a sense of urgency.

The Sixers stormed back from an early deficit to capture a 117-107 win. The victory was their first over the Bulls since Nov. 2, 2013, snapping a 12-game skid.

"We played well against a team that is fighting to get into the playoffs, and all over the place, we leave here proud of our guys," Brett Brown said.

The Sixers will have a chance to regain that same feeling Sunday with the Pacers clinging to the seventh seed in the East. Indiana is just one game up on the Miami Heat and 1.5 ahead of the Bulls and Detroit Pistons.

2. This movie is rated PG-13
Imagine Paul George using his versatile skill set to dominate the opposition on the court tonight. Now imagine him doing it in a Sixers uniform.

That was at least a thought for the Sixers after they reportedly made a significant offer for George at the trade deadline last month.

Instead, the Sixers will have to deal with the challenge of containing George. The four-time All-Star is averaging 22.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

The Sixers already know what George is capable of after he lit them up for 28 and 26 points in the two games of a home-and-home series way back in November. The Sixers had the last laugh in that second meeting, however, as they held on in overtime for a 109-105 win -- their first of the season.

3. Setting a benchmark
Besides the monster double-double from Dario Saric (32 points, 10 rebounds), a major reason the Sixers were able to knock off the Bulls was the play of their bench.

The reserves accounted for 52 points in the victory. The biggest contributors were Shawn Long (career-high 18 points, seven rebounds), Gerald Henderson (14 points, five rebounds) and Sergio Rodriguez (12 points, seven assists and four rebounds).

The Sixers hope that type of bench performance can carry over against a Pacers bench that totaled 54 points in the last two games combined.

4. Injuries
Jahlil Okafor (right knee soreness), Tiago Splitter (calf), Joel Embiid (knee), Ben Simmons (foot) and Jerryd Bayless (wrist) are all out for the Sixers.

Glenn Robinson III (calf) is out for the Pacers.

5. This and that
• The Sixers have lost their last six games in Indiana.

• Prior to their second consecutive defeat on Friday, the Pacers had alternated wins and losses for 15 straight games. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, that's one shy of the longest such streak in NBA history.

• The Sixers out-rebounded the Pacers by a total of 28 in the season's previous two meetings.
