LAS VEGAS — Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot received unsettling news prior to the Thursday’s game when he learned of the Bastille Day attack in his native France.

Luwawu-Cabarrot was able to contact his loved ones before playing against the Nets. Las Vegas summer league head coach Lloyd Pierce described him as “a little shaken.”

“He said he’s talked to his girlfriend, he’s talked to his family,” Pierce said. “Everyone’s OK. But just a lot of concern for his family, for all the people that were affected by it.”

Luwawu-Cabarrot, the 24th pick in this year’s draft, played 26 minutes in the Sixers' 87-84 loss (see Instant Replay). He scored 10 points (4 for 9 from the field, 2 for 4 from three) to go with three rebounds, one assist and one block.

“You can tell it’s a thought in his head and he’s trying to figure it out,” Pierce said.

On Thursday evening, a truck drove into a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France. At this time, France president Francois Hollande has said 77 people were killed in the attack.

The events put the loss to the Nets in perspective.

"The game isn’t tough," Pierce said. "There’s a lot of other things that are going on. It’s just tough when it hits home for everybody."

Luwawu-Cabarrot did not speak to the media after the game as he continued to contact his friends and family. He tweeted a message to his followers:
