Burke and Gunn: DB options for Eagles in draft

Along with wide receiver, the Eagles will be looking for a defensive back in next week’s NFL draft.

CSN's Ron Burke and Derrick Gunn looked at a couple of options for the Eagles with the 22nd overall pick as well as a possible choice in the second round. Needless to say, there should be a quality defensive back available for the Eagles if they choose to go that way.

Among the players that stand out are Jimmy Ward, a 5-foot-10 safety from Northern Illinois, who is a big hitter. As Gunn says, “If you come across the middle, you will know his presence.”

Gunn also likes Terrence Brooks from Florida State, who could be available in the second round.

At cornerback, Burke likes Kyle Fuller from Virginia Tech because, “I think he can cover across the field.”

Then there is 5-foot-9, 189-pound cornerback Jason Verrett from TCU, who Burke views as a top-notch cover man.

“I call him flypaper because he can stick to guys,” Burke said.
