Eagles Inactives: Allen Barbre active, will start; ‘Big V' out

With Lane Johnson back from suspension and with Allen Barbre (hamstring) healthy enough to play, the Eagles will have their original offensive line back together on Thursday night against the Giants.

Barbre entered Thursday listed as questionable with a hamstring injury he suffered against Washington a couple weeks ago. He missed the last game, but will start at left guard against the Giants.

In addition to Barbre, Jordan Matthews (ankle) and Isaac Seumalo (high ankle sprain) are also active after being listed as questionable. Matthews missed the game against the Bengals but has been back for the last two. His lingering ankle injury won’t disappear before the end of the season. Seumalo hurt his ankle in the last game.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai, who was questionable with his knee injury, is inactive. “Big V” returned to practice this week, but hasn’t played since Nov. 20, when he sprained his MCL against the Seahawks.

Joining Vaitai on the inactive list: DT Taylor Hart, DE Steven Means, CB Dwayne Gratz, OL Dillon Gordon, OL Josh Andrews, WR Paul Turner.

Fan-favorite Turner is inactive for the second straight game. He had an 80-yard game just a few weeks ago in Cincinnati.

This is Johnson’s first game back from suspension. He hasn’t played since Oct. 9 in Detroit, but will start on Thursday against the Giants.

Darren Sproles is back after missing last week with a concussion. Head coach Doug Pederson said Sproles will have his normal workload at running back. He’s one of three backs active, along with Ryan Mathews and rookie Byron Marshall.

For the second straight game, right guard Brandon Brooks is active and will start. That’s significant because he missed two of the three previous games while dealing with anxiety issues.

For the Giants, cornerback Janoris Jenkins (back) is inactive after being listed as questionable heading into Thursday. This is a significant loss.

Other Giants inactives: WR Tavarres King, OL Will Beatty, S Nat Berhe, DE Jason Pierre-Paul, RB Randy Winn, DE Ishaq Williams.
