As of 4 p.m. on Friday, a good portion of Mychal Kendricks' salary is now guaranteed.

Of Kendricks' $4.85 million base salary in 2017, $4.35 million became guaranteed at 4 p.m. on Friday, a league source confirmed.

The Eagles have been trying for weeks to trade the 26-year-old linebacker with no luck. A source said there's still a possibility of Kendricks' getting dealt.

In 2016, Kendricks was the Eagles' weakside linebacker but played just 27 percent of defensive snaps while Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham rarely left the field.

Kendricks' cap hit in 2017 is $6.6 million. The Eagles would save $1.8 in cap space if he's traded. If not, he'll be back as a starter who still has a limited role.

This isn't the first time trade talks have surrounded Kendricks -- there were some in the summer of 2015, before he signed a four-year extension with the Eagles.
