Report: Eagles kicker Caleb Sturgis (quad) to miss ‘several weeks'

The Eagles are going to need to scramble to figure out their kicker situation by Sunday.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Caleb Sturgis has a quad strain in his plant leg and is expected to miss "several weeks."

Sturgis hurt himself early in Sunday's 30-17 win over Washington but was able to finish the game. Head coach Doug Pederson said it was an "admirable" job by Sturgis to tough it out, but Sturgis' injury was the main reason the Eagles went for two after their last touchdown.

On the ensuing kickoff, Sturgis was gimpy walking off the field and looked to be in some pain. After the game, he told CSNPhilly.com that he was fine, but it looks like he might not have known the severity of the injury.

Pederson confirmed that the Eagles will try out some kickers this week and it looks like they'll need to sign one to play this Sunday in Kansas City.

An obvious choice would have been former Eagle Cody Parkey, who was waived by the Browns at final cuts, but he was claimed by the Dolphins and is on their roster.

Recently, the Raiders needed to find a kicker after Sebastian Janikowski was placed on IR. They worked out Josh Lambo, Mike Nugent and Marshall Koehn before their opener, but went with Giorgio Tavecchio instead.
