Flyers LW Matt Read done for season with broken right arm

Matt Read's season is over.

The Flyers' left wing will miss the rest of the season and is out six to eight weeks with a broken right arm.

Read was injured during the final 5:54 of the Flyers' 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday night when Nick Leddy's point drive hit him flush on the right arm.

Read is one of just five Flyers who was having a plus season (plus-3). He was plus because he is also one of their better defensive forwards, even if he is not tearing it up on the scoreboard.

Read will finish the season having played 63 games with 10 goals and 19 points while averaging 13:48 ice time. He had two power-play goals and one shorthanded goal.

The 19 points are the fewest Read has produced during his six seasons with the Flyers.
