DETROIT — Flyers forward Ryan White was ejected from Sunday’s game against the Red Wings and could miss more action after striking Wings forward Tomas Jurco in the head.

White was sent off just 2:20 into the game and NBCSN replays showed him lowering his shoulder just before he made contact with Jurco’s head.

Jurco remained in the game and the Flyers killed the five-minute penalty.

White did not speak to reporters after the game and coach Dave Hakstol did not discuss the penalty.

By rule, White is suspended until the NHL reviews the play. The league could extend the discipline under a protocol addressing intentional hits to players' heads.

Colorado’s Gabriel Landeskog drew a two-game suspension in November after hitting Boston’s Brad Marchand in the head. And San Jose winger Raffi Torres missed the first half of the season — the longest suspension in league history — after a preseason hit on Anaheim’s Jakob Silfverberg.
