Roy Halladay will get seven days rest between starts this time through the Phillies’ rotation.

Halladay has been plagued by flu-like symptoms in recent days. His day to pitch would have been Tuesday, but the Phils decided over the weekend to move him back to Wednesday. On Tuesday, the club revised the rotation again and pushed Halladay back to Thursday.

Tyler Cloyd was the starter Tuesday night against the Padres.

Cliff Lee will go on regular rest Wednesday night.

Halladay, who last pitched on Sept. 4, will go on Thursday.

“He was sick two or three days ago,” manager Ryne Sandberg said. “The extra day will allow him to gain some strength and pitch in cooler temperatures on Thursday.”

Sandberg said Halladay “lost some strength, but is feeling better.”

Brown Update
Domonic Brown is also feeling better. The leftfielder, who has not played since Sept. 1 because of inflammation in the area of his right Achilles tendon, was able to take some swings in the batting cage Tuesday. He is gradually adding baseball activity.

Sandberg expects Brown to play again this season.

“We’re checking him day to day to see how he feels,” Sandberg said.
