Dodgers: NL West leaders get Darvish from Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers have traded star pitcher Yu Darvish to the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers for three minor league players.

The 30-year-old Darvish is a four-time All-Star. He is 6-9 with a 4.01 ERA in 22 starts this season as he comes back from Tommy John surgery.

Darvish is 0-5 with a 5.81 ERA over his last eight starts. He was tagged for a career-worst 10 runs in his last outing, and later revealed that he was tipping his pitches to the Marlins.

The Japanese star would have been free agent at end of the season, his sixth in Texas. He missed the entire 2015 season while recovering from elbow surgery.

Dodgers rookie first baseman Cody Bellinger tweeted a greeting to Darvish even before the deal was official.

The Dodgers have the best record in the majors while Texas has struggled below .500 (see full story).

Mets: Reliever Reed shipped to Red Sox for 3 prospects
NEW YORK -- The Mets have agreed to trade reliever Addison Reed to the Boston Red Sox for three 22-year-old right-handed pitching prospects, a deal contingent on the teams approving medical records of the players involved.

Boston would send New York right-handers Jamie Callahan, Gerson Bautista and Stephen Nogosek. The Red Sox are competing for the AL East title, and were in position to complete the deal before Monday's 4 p.m. deadline for trades without waivers.

Reed, a 31-year-old right-hander, is 1-2 with a 2.57 ERA and 19 saves in 21 chances. He took over as New York's closer this season because of Jeurys Familia's domestic-violence suspension and shoulder surgery. The Red Sox already have a dominant closer in Craig Kimbrel (see full story).
