Jorge Alfaro, the Phillies' top catching prospect, starting behind the plate Saturday and batting eighth tonight against the Rockies (8:10/CSN and CSNPhilly.com).

Alfaro, who was called up Friday with Andrew Knapp banged up, will make his first MLB start of the season. He will catch Nick Pivetta, who will try to avoid any home runs for the third consecutive start (see game notes). Meanwhile, Cameron Perkins has been recalled.

The 24-year-old catcher struggled in his first taste of the majors last September. In 17 plate appearances over six games (four starts), he went just 2 for 16 with a walk. He struck out eight times.

In the minors this year, he's struck out 113 times in 350 PAs while batting .241/.291/.358. Behind the plate, he's thrown out 33 percent of potential base-stealers and allowed nine passed balls.

With Altherr out, Daniel Nava has moved into the No. 3 hole. Nick Williams will bat cleanup for the second time in his brief career. He's coming off two three-hit games and has four extra-base hits in that span.

Here's the full lineup that will face Rockies pitcher Jon Gray.
