Philadelphia Union announce 2017 broadcast schedule

CHESTER, Pa. (Feb. 21, 2017) – Philadelphia Union today announced their 2017 Major League Soccer broadcast schedule, with all 34 of the club’s matches available live, on local and national television. A total of four matches will be featured on local broadcast television via 6abc, with 20 matches on The Comcast Network (TCN) and five on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia (CSN). The Union are also slated to be on national television five times in 2017, appearing on ESPN four times and FS1 once.

Union supporters can catch the club on 6abc in four marquee fixtures: Saturday, April 22 vs. Montreal; Saturday, June 24 vs. D.C. United; Sunday, October 15 at Chicago; and Sunday, October 22 vs. Orlando on MLS Decision Day.

Additionally, the club will be on national television for the following games: Friday, April 14 vs. New York City FC (ESPN); Sunday, June 18 vs. New York Red Bulls (ESPN); Sunday, July 2 vs. New England (FS1); Sunday, September 17 at New York Red Bulls (ESPN); and Sunday, October 1 vs. the defending MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders FC (ESPN).

Philadelphia begins the 2017 campaign by playing at Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday, March 5 (TCN / 9:30 p.m. ET) before returning to Talen Energy Stadium for the 2017 home opener on Saturday, March 11 against Toronto FC (CSN / 4:30 p.m. ET). In addition to Season Tickets, fans can now purchase Partial Plans and Group Tickets for all Philadelphia Union matches at Talen Energy Stadium.  For the first time, the Union will be offering a Fully Flex 9 Game Plan where fans can select their games along with a Tiered Flex 5 Game plan. NBC SPORTS REGIONAL NETWORKS PRESENT 'TOMBOY' – A MULTI-PLATFORM INITIATIVE ON GENDER IN SPORTS

Stamford, Conn. – February 15, 2017 – NBC Sports Regional Networks today announced the launch ofTOMBOY, a multi-platform documentary project that aims to elevate the conversation about gender in sports told through the voices of many of the world’s most prominent female athletes, broadcasters and sports executives. The first-of-its-kind integrated initiative culminates with a special one-hour documentary, also titledTOMBOY, which will air across all NBC Sports Regional Networks, nationally distributed NBCSN, and select NBC Owned Television Stations in March (Check local listings).

Every weekday leading up to the launch, the Comcast SportsNets (CSNs) will release daily podcasts, articles, and interviews with the biggest and most influential names in women’s sports to foster engagement and dialogue.  Most CSN markets will also host symposiums in conjunction with local colleges to encourage participation and conversation at a regional level.

The one-hour TOMBOY documentary -- which includes interviews with four-time World Cup champion Lindsey Vonn, Little League World Series pitching sensation Mo’ne Davis, and Basketball Hall of Famer Ann Meyers-Drysdale, and many more -- features female stories and perspectives. The documentary will premiere during Women’s History Month in March (dates below).

PHILADELPHIA- (February  6, 2017) – CSN Philadelphia announced today that John Kruk has joined the broadcast team of Tom McCarthy, Ben Davis, Mike Schmidt and Gregg Murphy for the 2017 season. Kruk, a three-time All Star for the Phillies, and a member of their Wall of Fame, will make his broadcast debut on Saturday, February 25.

Kruk, a three-time All-Star, retired in 1995 after a 10-year career, including six seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies. After retiring from baseball, he moved on to broadcasting, working  with Fox Sports Net in 2001 before joining CSN as a color analyst for Phillies broadcasts in 2003. He then spent 12 years as an analyst on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball and Baseball Tonight. He also coached the Reading Phillies in 2001. 

“I am looking forward to working with Tom, Mike, Ben and Gregg,” said Kruk. “Although I have played with three different organizations, the Phillies are family. I am excited to get started with this new chapter in my life.”

“John worked with us  as a color analyst during the 2003 season, so we are thrilled to welcome him home as a member of our 2017 Phillies broadcast team alongside Tom, Ben, Mike and Gregg,” said CSN Philadelphia President Brian Monihan.  “John’s popularity, combined with his invaluable insight from his years as an analyst on the national level, will undoubtedly enhance our Phillies coverage for the 2017 season and beyond.”

All 162 Phillies games will air on the NBC family of networks with 142 airing on CSN, 12 on NBC10 and eight on TCN, with five simulcasts on Telemundo62. During the 2017 MLB season, CSN and TCN will also begin live steaming Philadelphia Phillies games – along with game-day shows Phillies Pregame Live and Phillies Postgame Live – on CSNPhilly.com and via the NBC Sports app. 

The live-streaming service will be available at no additional cost to authenticated CSN Philadelphia and TCN Philadelphia subscribers.  Authenticated subscribers will have the ability to access Phillies games when traveling outside of their region, provided they are within the U.S. The service is provided as an added value, and is available to all video distributors of CSN Philadelphia and TCN Philadelphia.
