South Beach or South Philly?

The Sixers will have quite a bit of cap room next summer with Chris Webber and Aaron Mckie -- Aaron Mckie! -- coming off the books.  But as the final notes in an article by David Aldridge, he points out that Miami will also have a bit of space next off season.

Figure Miami holds off Indiana and the Knicks for the last playoff
berth and gets throttled again in the first round. But the Heat may
have significant cap room next summer, which would make them the
destination of choice for almost every rising free agent.

This would be bad news for the local team, which will play 82 games
while waiting for its real season opener - July 1, 2008, the first day
of free agency next summer. Billy King may be a smooth talker, but
Riles is still Riles, and South Beach holds a slight edge over the
Schuylkill.

Philly may not be as ugly as they all say, but damn, we got no shot against South Beach.
