Eagles' rookie minicamp bullet points

Some news and notes from Eagles' rookie minicamp, which consists of five practices from Saturday to Monday.

Ryan Tydlacka, a rookie punter from Kentucky, showed good height and distance on his punts, and the Eagles hope he can give incumbent Chaz Henry a run for his money.

Bryce Brown, the rookie tailback from Kansas State, looked fast and strong in shirts and shorts.

Brandon Boykin, the fourth-round pick from Georgia, worked both in the slot and outside and also looked comfortable fielding punts.

Temple cornerback Kee-ayre Griffin, whos in camp as a tryout player, had an early interception but limped off the practice field with about half an hour left with an undisclosed injury.

D.J. Jones, a 6-foot-5, 315-pounder from Nebraska, looked good at right tackle. Jones is one of the more experienced offensive linemen in camp. He spent much of last year on the Ravens practice squad and one week on the active roster.

Greg Lewis, who spent the first six years of his eight-year career with the Eagles, is in camp working as a coaching intern with the Eagles receivers. Lewis is the only wide receiver in franchise history to catch a Super Bowl touchdown and won the 2009 ESPY for best catch for his miraculous Hail Mary back-of-the-end-zone TD from Brett Favre in the Vikings last-second win over the 49ers.

Offensive line coach Howard Mudd is taking this rookie camp off. Mudd, who is 74, is coming off hip replacement surgery. Hes due back for the Eagles next camp later this month. With Mudd absent, assistant offensive line coach Eugene Chung -- the 13th pick in the 1992 NFL draft -- is working with the offensive linemen.
