The Temple Owls have tapped into a previously successful recruiting pipeline.

Following in the footsteps of Pepe Sanchez and Juan Fernandez, Argentinian guard Ayan Nunez de Carvalho is on his way to play for head coach Fran Dunphy, the school announced Monday.

A 6-foot-5 guard, Nunez de Carvalho was a member of the 2014 Argentina U17 National Team. In seven contests, he averaged 10 points per game in Dubai at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships.

The Argentinian roots have been kind to the Owls in the past. Sanchez is fourth in NCAA history with 365 career steals, and he helped lead Temple to the Elite Eight in 1999. Fernandez reached the NCAA Tournament in each of his four years with the Owls.

“He comes from a wonderful family and continues a line of guards from Argentina that includes Pepe Sanchez and Juan Fernandez,” Dunphy said.
