Towson basketball senior John Davis was the victim of an apparent drive-by shooting in his native South Philadelphia on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred hours after Towson's 69-65 win over Drexel on Saturday at the DAC.

Towson coach Pat Skurry told ESPN.com that Davis, a Neumann-Goretti High School grad, stayed overnight in the hospital and was released Sunday morning but still has part of the bullet lodged in his leg.

Skurry also told ESPN.com that after Davis was released from the hospital, he attended a ceremony for his young son and then went back for more medical care.

While Davis is expected to make a full recovery, there is no timetable for his return to the court.

The 6-foot-5 forward is averaging 11.8 points, 7.6 boards and 0.8 assists this season for the Tigers, who are currently in third place in the CAA.
