Wes Helms Sent Packing, Seanez Deal Offical

The Phillies have finalized a contract with Rudy Seanez reported to be a one year deal. To make room for the reliever, the Phils have designated Wes Helms for asignment. What this means: "the Phillies have 10 days to
dispose of Helms' contract. They can trade him. They can release him.
But if they release him, they'd be on the hook for most of the $2.9
million left on his contract. Any team that signs Helms as a free agent
after the Phillies release him would be responsible for paying him only
the major-league minimum salary, $390,000."

Pedro Feliz didn't exactly look like Michael Jack at the plate on Monday afternoon, but his fielding will certainly be needed this season. Wes Helms, who was pretty much a big disappointment as a Phillie, will not be missed.
