Baseball fans know Harry Kalas as the legendary voice of the Philadelphia Phillies. But many forget he started out calling games down in Texas for the Houston Astros from 1965-70 before heading north.
Harry's son Todd followed in his father's footsteps with a career in baseball broadcasting and spent the last 19 years with the Tampa Bay Rays.
But now Todd Kalas is going back to the town he was born in to take a job as the Houston Astros play-by-play caller on television.
The team announced the move right around Christmass but we're just seeing it now.
"This is the fulfillment of a dream, to work a full season doing play-by-play as part of the Astros new broadcast team," Kalas said in the release. "This opportunity with Houston has been my long-term goal since my collegiate broadcasting days. To return to the city where I was born, work with such great organizations as the Astros and ROOT Sports, and to be a part of an exciting Houston team with great expectations is beyond anything I could have hoped for. "
Kalas will replace Bill Brown who retired this offseason after 30 years with the team. He'll work alongside color man Geoff Blum.
