Watch: The Phillies season got off to a fantastic start thanks to Cesar

Cesar Hernandez started the 2017 Phillies season off with a bang.

In the team's first at bat of the season, Cesar took a Scott Feldman offering deep into the seats at Great America Ball Park to put the Phils up 1-0 over the Reds.

It was the second leadoff home run of his career.

Hernandez hit just 6 home runs in 622 plate appearances in 2016. He's on pace for... a lot more than that in 2017.

According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, Cesar's homer was the first by a Phillie to leadoff the season since 1938!

The Phillies just missed on a second home run in the opening frame of 2017 when Michael Saunders ripped a ball high off the wall in left. The Phillies ended the top half of the first inning with a 2-0 lead.

Plenty of baseball left to be played in 2017 but it's off to a solid start.
