UConn's Shabazz Napier daggered Villanova last time they met in Philly, ending with ‘that guy Bill Raftery yelling Onions'

After a wild first two days of the NCAA tournament that featured roughly 45 overtime games, Stephen Freaking Austin leading the parade of 12 seeds to pull of upsets because of a FOUR-POINT PLAY, that white guy on Mercer doing one of the best versions of the Holy-Crap-We-Just-Beat-Duke dance I’ve ever seen and Phil Martelli’s grandson continuing to be cute, it seems like it might be hard for the second (uhh, third) round to compare.

But some of the matchups to determine Sweet 16 berths are quite juicy ones – perhaps none more so than the old-school clash tonight (9:30, TBS) pitting new Big East member Villanova against old Big East member Connecticut.

Surely, you know some of the history behind the storied Villanova-UConn rivalry (Kerry Kittles vs. Ray Allen!) but we don’t need to go back very far to show why tonight’s game could be a memorable one. The last time Villanova and UConn met in Philly was 13 months ago and Huskies star senior Shabazz Napier hit an incredible almost-buzzer-beater to win it. Watch:

What does Napier remember about the shot? Here is his pretty funny response:

It should be pointed out at this time that Bill Raftery is in Buffalo, will call tonight’s game, and is surely ready to once again scream “Onions” (the origin of which is great). And after everything that’s already happened this tourney, do you even doubt that he will?
