Video: Giancarlo Stanton Makes One of the Best Catches We've Seen All Year; Cooler Cole Works the Double-Deuce

We can now enjoy the amazing catch Giancarlo Stanton made to rob Erik Kratz of an RBI early in the Phillies game against the Marlins on Monday night because the Fightins' went on to ride Cole Hamels' second-consecutive complete game shutout to a 4-0 victory.

But damn if that wasn't one of the best catches I've seen all season. Typically when you think great outfielder catch it's going up the wall or diving while running across the outfield, but with Marlins Park being so big, he had plenty of room to track that ball down while basically sprinting straight back. I didn't think there was any way he was getting to it.

As for Cole's dominant evening, Jim Salisbury says you have to start mentioning Hamels in the Cy Young conversations. More on that here.

“I feel strong,” Hamels said. “I feel like I have that fluidity of letting a pitch go and knowing exactly where it’s going to go. It started [three starts ago]. I feel like I’m commanding all four pitches.”

Twenty-two straight shutout innings. If not a Cy Young, at least he can get an off-season job as the cooler at the Double-Deuce.
