The new season is only one game old for Villanova, but Jay Wright and his Wildcats are already moving up the AP poll.

In the newest poll released Monday, the 'Cats moved up a slot to No. 5 following a 75-60 win over Columbia last Friday in the season opener at the Wells Fargo Center.

Kentucky, which was No. 5 last week, slid down two spots after slogging through closer-than-anticipated wins against Utah Valley and Vermont.

The top four remained unchanged this week as Duke stayed at No. 1, Michigan State held firm at No. 2, Arizona parked at No. 3 and Kansas stayed rooted at No. 4.

Villanova hits the court twice this coming week — Tuesday vs. Nichols State at the Wells Fargo Center and Friday vs. Lafayette at PPL Center in Allentown.
