Watch Cesar Hernandez's inside-the-park home run

Share

Many say the inside-the-park home run is one of the most exciting plays in baseball, and if you've seen one live in person at the MLB level they usually are. Watching Chase Utley round third like a mad man is a sight to behold.

But then there's the inside the parker of the Cesar Hernandez variety. The sometime-Phillie was playing for Reading over the weekend when he bashed a ball off the wall in deep center. Instead of taking one of those goofy bounces off the wall directly away from the center fielder, the ball just kind of died not too far from said fielder. But the guy manning center appeared to tweak his leg or knee up pretty good and was just laying there. That allowed Hernandez to turn third with no real need for speed. He scored easily and it really wasn't all that exciting as far as inside-the-park home runs go.

Reading went on to win 5-0.
