The week ahead in Philadelphia sports
Tuesday - Lightning at Flyers, 7:30 p.m.
The Flyers look to start 2-0 on their current four-game homestand. Tampa Bay defeated the Flyers 5-1 on Jan. 27. Sean Couturier scored the Flyers' only goal.
Tuesday - Villanova at DePaul, 7 p.m.
Villanova travels to DePaul looking to end a two-game losing skid. The Blue Demons are trying to avoid a seventh straight loss and a ninth loss in their last 10 games. Villanova has notched five straight wins over DePaul.
Wednesday - Pacers at 76ers, 7 p.m.
Thad Young and the 76ers continue their eight-game homestand against the Pacers. The Sixers lost 95-85 to Indiana on Dec. 14 despite 12 points and seven rebounds from Thaddeus Young.
Wednesday - Saint Joseph's at Dayton, 7 p.m.
Aiming for a fourth consecutive victory, the Hawks take on Dayton. The Flyers look to get back on track after two consecutive road losses to Xavier and Saint Louis.
Wednesday - Charlotte at Temple, 7 p.m.
Temple welcomes in Charlotte for the first of two meetings on the season. The Owls have won both meetings with the 49ers over the past two seasons.
Thursday - Panthers at Flyers, 7 p.m.
In the last meeting between the Flyers and Panthers, the Flyers scored a season high seven goals en route to a 7-1 victory. Wayne Simmonds scored once and Matt Read had a hat trick.
Thursday - Old Dominion at Drexel, 7 p.m.
Looking to win for the fifth time in seven games, the Dragons take on Old Dominion. Drexel swept the season series with two wins over the Monarchs last season and has won the last three meetings overall.
Friday - Yale at Penn, 7 p.m.
Penn and Yale will play their first of two matchups this season. Over the past two seasons, the Quakers have taken three of four meetings from the Bulldogs.
Saturday - Temple at Dayton, 11 a.m.
The Owls travel to Dayton to take on the Flyers. Temple has won two of the past three games against Dayton.
Saturday - Hurricanes at Flyers, 1 p.m.
The Flyers welcome the Hurricanes to the Wells Fargo Center for the second time in four games. The Flyers defeated Carolina 5-3 on Feb. 2 behind a goal and an assist from Danny Briere.
Saturday - Fordham at La Salle, 2 p.m.
With a win, La Salle will improve to 4-1 in its last five games. In their only meeting last season, the Rams defeated the Explorers, 67-62.
Saturday - Saint Joseph's at UMass, 2 p.m.
Saint Joseph's travels to Massachusetts to play its second straight road game. The Hawks and Minutemen split the season series last year.
Saturday - South Florida at Villanova, 3 p.m.
With a win, the Wildcats will sweep the season series with the Bulls. Villanova won the previous meeting, 61-53. Mouphtaou Yarou led the Wildcats with 16 points.
Saturday - Brown at Penn, 7 p.m.
Penn will conclude its four-game homestand against Brown. Over the past two seasons, the Quakers are 4-0 against the Bears.
Saturday - Bobcats at 76ers, 8 p.m.
The 76ers host the Bobcats in the seventh of eight straight home games. In the last meeting between these two teams, the Sixers hung on for a 104-98 victory behind strong defensive play from Spencer Hawes. Evan Turner had 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Sunday - James Madison at Drexel, 7 p.m.
Drexel hosts James Madison, seeking to avenge a 51-43 loss to the Dukes on Jan. 12. Frantz Massenat led the Dragons with 13 points.
