Which AFC North team will suffer the biggest hit during free agency? Right now, it looks like the Bengals.
Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu is unlikely to re-sign with the Bengals, according to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports.
Meanwhile, the list of Bengals unrestricted free agents also includes safeties George Iloka and Reggie Nelson, right tackle Andre Smith, cornerbacks Leon Hall and Adam Jones; inside linebacker Vincent Rey, wide receiver Marvin Jones, and defensive end Wallace Gilberry. All of those players saw at least 600 snaps for the Bengals last season.
The Bengals aren’t likely to lose all of those players, but they will definitely lose some. Meanwhile, the loss of former offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, now the Browns’ head coach, will also be an adjustment.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Browns take a run at either Sanu or Jones during free agency. The Browns could use a playmaking wide receiver, and both Jones and Sanu are obviously familiar with Jackson’s system.
The Bengals have done an excellent job drafting in recent years, which is one reason they have made the playoffs five straight years. They will need another strong draft this year, after the talent they lose during free agency.
