No team has given the Ravens more trouble in recent seasons than the Bengals (2-0), who visit M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday.
The Bengals have won three straight over the Ravens, including a 2-0 sweep of last year’s season series. If the Ravens (0-2) are going to get their first win, it doesn’t figure to come easily.
“We’ve seen a lot of them over the years, and they have a lot of really good receivers – they have weapons,” said Ravens coach John Harbaugh. “I do believe it is the most talented team in the league. I’ve seen that over the years. We have great respect for them, for their coaches (and) the way they play. Obviously, it starts with (wide receiver) A. J. Green, but the whole case of characters there on offense is very talented and gifted – tight ends, running backs, quarterback. The whole group is very good, and they have a heck of an offensive line. I’d say they’re the complete package, talent-wise.”
Here’s a look back at the last three Ravens-Bengals games
Week 8 at Cincinnati
Bengals 27, Ravens 24
After throwing two second-half interceptions, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton engineered the game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter. The big play was a 53-yard pass from Dalton to Mohamed Sanu, setting up Dalton’s one-yard sneak for the go-ahead touchdown with 57 seconds left. The Ravens nearly pulled out a miraculous victory, but Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith was called for a controversial pass interference penalty in the waning moments. That penalty nullified what would have been an 80-yard TD pass from Joe Flacco to Smith. That defeat may have cost the Ravens a division title last year.
Week 1 at Baltimore
Bengals 23, Ravens 16
Green stunned the Ravens in the season-opener, catching a game-winning 77-yard touchdown pass from Dalton with 4:58 left. It was the Ravens’ first loss in a home opener under Harbaugh.
Week 17 at Cincinnati
Bengals 34, Ravens 17
The Bengals eliminated the Ravens from playoff contention in their only non-playoff season (8-8) under Harbaugh. Running back Ray Rice was held to 15 yards on six carries in his last regular-season game with the Ravens.
