Suspended Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has failed another drug test, according to multiple reports, and first reported by Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports. Failing another test does not mean Gordon will be suspended for the 2016 season, but it clouds his case for reinstatement. The FOX report said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had not yet ruled on Gordon’s reinstatement application.
Gordon reportedly tested positive for marijuana and a diluted sample. Although Gordon tested for less than the 35 nanograms of marijuana required for a positive test, a diluted sample constituted a positive test.
Gordon has been indefinitely suspended since February of 2015. When asked about Gordon’s status last week, new Browns coach Hue Jackson was noncommittal.
“I think it’s premature for me to talk about that because he hasn’t been reinstated,” said Jackson via Cleveland.com.
Gordon showed tremendous promise in 2013, catching 87 passes for a league leading 1,646 receiving yards in just 14 games, after being suspended for the first two games that season. Gordon served a 10-game suspension in 2014, and he missed all of last season.
ESPN reported Monday that Gordon has been living with former Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, who has been battling his own personal issues. Gordon will turn 25 years old on Wednesday, and his inability to avoid problems makes his NFL future uncertain.
Upon hearing of the reported news, Gordon had this to say on Twitter:
Call me if u need a real story worth writing..
