The Ravens made five transactions Monday afternoon to get down to 77 players, according to the NFL’s daily transactions list. Safety Matt Elam (biceps), CB Chris Greenwood (knee), LB Steven Means (groin), and TE Allen Reisner (ankle) were all placed on injured reserve. Offensive tackle Darryl Baldwin (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve non-football injury list. All five of those players will miss the entire 2015 season.
That leaves the Ravens just two players above the 75-player limit they are required to reach by 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Ravens have three other players dealing with significant injuries - tight end Dennis Pitta (hip), defensive end Brent Urban (knee), and offensive tackle De’Ondre Wesley (knee). Roster moves involving those players will likely get the Ravens down to 75 players without having to release anyone Tuesday.
Teams must reach the 53-player limit by Sept. 5, making Thursday night’s preseason game against the Falcons very important for players on the bubble.
