OWINGS MILLS – Ravens coach John Harbaugh did not name a starting quarterback Friday, leaving the Chiefs to guess if Jimmy Clausen or Matt Schaub would start Sunday.
“We’re probably not going to name a quarterback today,” Harbaugh said, smiling after Friday’s practice. “That’s probably all I have to say about that.”
Clausen started last weekend against the Seahawks, when Schaub was inactive with a chest injury. However, Schaub practiced Thursday and Friday and was making progress according to Harbaugh.
“He looked good,” Harbaugh said of Schaub . “I won’t say he’s 100 percent, but by Sunday he has a chance to be 100 percent. He’s a tough guy. He worked hard this week.”
Ryan Mallett had three days of practice this week after officially signing with the Ravens on Tuesday. However, Mallett has not been with the team long enough to feel comfortable starting at quarterback Sunday.
So either Clausen will get his second straight start, or Schaub will return after a one-game absence. But as of Friday, Harbaugh was not willing to say.
