Ravens battle the schedule

Ravens battle the schedule

One of the hurdles the Ravens need to deal with this year is the schedule in a lot of different ways.
First came the beginning, where they faced three playoff-caliber teams right out of the gate. Adding to the fun was the fact that the team wound up with four games in 17 games. The schedule-maker threw a few twists in there, also.
The Ravens started on a Monday night, came back with a Sunday game at 1 p.m. on the road although it was only in Philadelphia. Then comes a Sunday night game followed by a Thursday night game.
The best part about that odd series was that three of the four games were in Baltimore, so that eliminated the problems travel would have broughtespecially last week. But the schedule settles down after this, something coach John Harbaugh mentioned when talking to the media after the Cleveland game last Thursday.
Well be looking forward to a normal seven-day schedule, and weve got some 1 oclock games coming up, he said. So, we are looking forward to that.
The question now is how much getting back to a normal schedule helps or affects the Ravens?
Heres guessing it will in some form or another. The Ravens and Browns certainly looked a bit tired for parts of Thursdays match-up. And why shouldnt they, especially the Ravens? They played Sunday night and then again Thursday night? Thats asking a lot of a team to do that, especially early in the season.
Its tough, its physically tough, quarterback Joe Flacco said. Its good that we came out with a win and now can get a couple of extra days to heal up and get ready to play Kansas City.

Fellow dance student of Ravens' Alex Collins fatally shot in Florida school shooting

On Wednesday, February 14, a horrific school shooting claimed the lives of 17 innocent people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

The tragic event impacted people far and wide, and hit especially close to home for Ravens running back Alex Collins.

The former Arkansas star was born in Plantation, Fla., a suburb of Fort Lauderdale and went to high school just 15 miles south of Douglas High School.

In the offseason, Collins took Irish dancing lessons to improve his footwork, and following the act of terror, the Ravens' tailback learned that one of his dance partners had been killed in the mass shooting.

17-year-old Cara Loughran attended The Drake school of Irish Dance with Collins in addition to two other Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students and was fatally shot by the gunman on Wednesday afternoon.

Collins took to his Twitter account to issue this heartfelt message.

“The school shooting yesterday hit home,” Collins wrote.

“We received confirmation a few hours ago we lost one of the girls, Cara Loughran. Two other girls saw and experienced unspeakable tragedy. My heart goes out to these girls, all their families and their teacher Chrissy.”
