Wed been keeping an eye on Tommy Streeter, the Ravens sixth-round draft pick out of Miami. The wide receiver didnt make the final 53-man roster, but the Ravens didnt cut him loose either he was placed on injured reserve (foot).
That means Streeter cant play this season, but it also means he remains tied to the Ravens, so no one else can grab him.
Assuming the injury isnt really season-ending which a sprained foot usually isnt at some point this season, Streeter can get back to learning about becoming an NFL wide receiver, even without being on the active roster or the practice squad. On the latter, the Ravens could have lost him.
A 6-foot-5 wideout with speed isnt someone you give up on too quickly. This season on IR becomes Streeters postgraduate semester. Next year, the Ravens should find out whether Streeter can turn into a valuable weapon or whether he was just a flyer that Ozzie Newsome took that didnt work out.
With draft picks, even sixth-rounders, the inclination is to give them and the club time to find out just what it got.
