2017 MLB spring training is almost here, and after a devastating end to the 2016 season, the Baltimore Orioles look to begin a new year in Sarasota, FL.
With a loss to division rival, Toronto in the Wild Card game ending their season, the Orioles (89-73 in 2016) first step toward another playoff year will be the Grapefruit League and spring training.
Starting the post-Matt Weiters era in Baltimore, newcomer Wellington Castillo will lace up on the backstop getting a majority season reps for the team.
Castillo will get his first look with the pitchers he will be working with on Feb. 14. Everyone else will get their first workout on Feb. 17.
In the Grapefruit League, Baltimore will lay fellow division rivals the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and Tampa Bay Rays. Also in the league are the Washington Nationals, New York Mets, and St. Louis Cardinals.
