The early odds for Super Bowl 2018 teams are in, and the Ravens are a long way from being favorites.
Online sports betting house Bovada has the Ravens in the middle of the NFL pack at 40-1. Fifteen NFL teams have better odds than the Ravens, including the Patriots of course, who are the early favorites. According to Bovada, Here are the teams that have better odds, or the same odds, as the Ravens to reach Super Bowl 52:
Cowboys and Packers: 9-1
Broncos, Raiders, Seahawks Vikings: 16-1
Chiefs, Colts, Giants, Panthers: 25-1
Buccaneers, Cardinals: 33-1
Lions, Ravens, Texans: 40-1
The Ravens do have better odds than two AFC North rivals - the Bengals (50-1) and the Browns (150-1).
The odds will change as offseason developments like free agency, the draft, and trades take place. Few people were picking the Falcons to reach the Super Bowl one year ago.
However, the Ravens have missed the playoffs the past two seasons and three of the last four. Until they surround quarterback Joe Flacco with more playmakers, or acquire more cornerbacks who can strengthen their pass coverage, the Ravens will be widely viewed as a team likely to watch the next Super Bowl, not compete in it.
