OWINGS MILLS – Three observations from the 14th practice of Ravens training camp Tuesday:
1. Tight end Ben Watson continues to build chemistry with quarterback Joe Flacco.
With so many tight ends injured during camp, Watson has gotten extra reps and has taken advantage. Maxx Williams and Dennis Pitta missed another practice. Watson has been the best and most dependable tight end since Day 1 of camp.
2. Terrell Suggs upped his participation and seemed to handle it well.
This was Day 2 of practice for Suggs, and the veteran linebacker got more involved and was a little more animated. The coaches are trusting Suggs to know how much he needs to push himself to be ready by Week 1. Suggs appears to be in good shape. Barring any setbacks, Suggs’ comeback from Achilles surgery seems to be going as planned.
3. If WR Keenan Reynolds is going to make the team, doing well as a returner is his best chance.
Reynolds, Lardarius Webb, and Michael Campanaro all took reps as punt returners during practice. Don’t be surprised to see Reynolds fielding punts during Saturday night’s preseason game against the Colts. The coaches need to see Reynolds field punts cleanly and make plays to convince them he can help the Ravens win games.
