Last week's warm up activated shallow water fish. This week will be a cool down. Time to adjust tackle.
Water temperature will drop to upper 50s from the mid 60s of last week. NBC Ch. 4 meteorologist "Weather Kim" Martucci says, “Sunny and cooler for Monday with a chance of rain on Tuesday. Cloudy and a few degrees warmer on Wednesday with rain for Thursday. Friday looks nice. Highs in the low to mid 60s this week and overnight lows in the upper 30s to 50.”
Crankbaits still the best bet. Very shallow with Mann's Baby 1-Minus to deeper with Lucky Craft 1.5 to 2.5 cranks. In clear water, go with shad patterns and fire tiger. Craw patterns in stained water or when cloudy. Downsize line to 10-pound test. GAMMA Edge fluorocarbon adds sensitivity and makes it easier to snap baits out of grass remnants.
Use spinning rods for drop shot, shaky head, split shot and Texas rigs. Thinner wire Mustad Ultra Point Mega Bite hooks penetrate easier on hook sets. Line is key as well. Use GAMMA Torque braid, either 15 or 20-pound test as main line with a 10-pound test Edge leader for these techniques. A reel with a good drag is important too. Quantum EXO size 30 spinning reels are faster and have smooth drag systems. For Texas rigs, try a medium heavy rod. For the other techniques use a medium action or technique specific rod. The Texas rig hookset is a snap set, the rest require a pull set.
With cloud cover, chop or stained water, keep a spinnerbait tied on to burn in clear water or slow roll in stained water. Use 12-pound test Edge.
