Morgan State nips VMI at the buzzer 81-80 in OT

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) Ian Chiles scored inside at the buzzer to give Morgan State a dramatic 81-80 overtime victory over Virginia Military Institute Saturday in nonconference action.

Chiles, one of four Bears in double figures with 13 points, scored after VMI's Rodney Glasgow missed a jumper with the shot clock running down. Shaquille Duncan (17 points, 14 rebounds) grabbed the rebound and Morgan State called a timeout with two seconds left in OT.

The Bears (3-3), who overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to force overtime, had trailed 80-79 after Rasean Simpson missed the second of two free throws with 38 seconds left.

Stan Okoye, who led all scorers with 29 points and took 11 rebounds, made 5 of 6 free throws late in the second half. Glasgow's two foul shots with 0:10 remaining in regulation forced overtime for the Keydets (3-5).

Anthony Hubbard and Dewayne Jackson scored 15 apiece for Morgan State.

The Nationals didn't release terms of the agreement, though a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Monday that it was for $1 million.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal wasn't official at the time.
